Alan Jackson's Country Fried Steak with Onion Gravy

- Servings: 3 to 4
- 1 lb. cubed steak
- 1/2 tsp. meat tenderizer
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 tb. and 1/4 c. flour
- 1/2 c. oil
- 1/4 c. chopped onion
- 1 1/2 c. water
DIRECTIONS
- Sprinkle steak with meat tenderizer and salt. Dredge steaks in 1/4 c. flour.
- Heat oil in frying pan.
- When oil is hot, brown steak on both sides.
- Remove steak from pan. Reduce heat.
- Stir in 2 tb. flour and dash of salt.
- Brown flour.
- Add about 1 1/2 c. water.
- Return steak to pan.
- Add onions.
- Cover and simmer on low heat 20-30 min. until meat is tender.
- If gravy is too thick, add more water to make the gravy the right consistency.
- Check for taste on salt.
