All American Macaroni and Cheese

  • 8 oz Elbow Macaroni
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • dash pepper
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 pound grated White American Cheese
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  1. Cook macaroni as it states on the box
  2. Preheat oven at 325 degrees.
  3. Make white sauce in pot over low heat mixing butter, flour, seasoning and milk. Cook until thick while stirring constantly... about 12 minutes.
  4. Add 3/4 of the cheese to the white sauce and blend until melted.
  5. Pour over macaroni in a casserole dish
  6. mix remaining cheese with bread crumbs and sprinkle on top of macaroni.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes
I lived off this growing up! My mom put it with EVERYTHING. Keeps our kids happy now too! Can never go wrong with this dish.
