Apple Chips
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- granny smith apples
DIRECTIONS
- Mix water and sugar in a small saucepan, bring to a boil without stirring.
- Once the mixture is at a boil reduce to a simmer and cook 5 minutes. (No stirring!)
- Allow mixture to cool thoroughly.
- Slice apples thinly, the original recipe says to slice into rounds without coring.
- I slice them without the core.
- Soak the slices in the sugar and water syrup for a minimum of 20 minutes or up to 24 hours.
- When ready to prepare, preheat oven to 300ยบ. Drain apple slices well and place on nonstick baking sheet.
- Bake until golden and crispy.
- Time is dependent on the thickness of the apple slices.
