Apple Pie
  • Cooking Time: 50
  • 8 cups of peeled and sliced Golden Delicious or Jonathan apples
  • 1-cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup of flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon of freshly grated nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • Dash of salt
  • 3 tablespoons of butter
  1. Prepare piecrust for a deep dish. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Peel and slice the apples. I sprinkle them with a little lemon juice to prevent browning while I prepare the crust. Mix the dry ingredients and sprinkle over the apples. Place the apples in the pastry-lined pan. Dot with the butter. Cover with the top crust and make sure it is vented and seal the edges. Sprinkle sugar on the top crust. Place strips of foil around the edges and remove the last 15 minutes of baking. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes. Or until the top crust is brown and you see juice bubbling from the slits in the crust.
This is one of my favorite recipes that I have been making for 35 years. I only use Golden Delicious apples that are green.
