Asian Yellow Rice
  • Cooking Time: 15 to 17 minutes

  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons butter
  • 3/4 teaspoon turmeric
  • 3/4 cup rice
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  1. Chop onion finely.
  2. Heat butter in heavy-bottomed pan.
  3. Add onion and turmeric and stir well.
  4. Cool until onion begins to soften.
  5. Add rice, salt, pepper, and water; bring to boil.
  6. Reduce heat to simmer and cook, covered, until all liquid is absorbed and rice is tender, about 15 to 17 minutes.
This yellow rice recipe is one of our favorite side dishes. It truly is “super easy” and it seriously goes with almost anything! You can keep it plain or spice it up to go with different meals. If you are in a rush and don’t have time to make it over the stove, you can also throw all the ingredients in a rice cooker and do it that way.
