Aunt Frankie's Cream Cheese Chocolate Layer Pie

  • Crust:
  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 3/4 cups walnuts, crushed
  • Filling first layer:
  • 3-4 bananas, sliced
  • Filling second layer:
  • 1 large box chocolate instant pudding
  • 2 3/4 cups milk
  • Filling third layer:
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 8 oz cool whip
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • Garnish (optional):
  • 3 maraschino cherries
  • 1/4 cup walnuts crushed
DIRECTIONS
  1. Mix crust ingredients and press into an 8" oblong baking dish or pan (a 9" X 9" pan would probably work as well, but may have a thinner crust.)
  2. Bake crust for 15 minutes at 350 degrees F. Set aside to cool.
  3. Layer the sliced bananas onto cooled crust. Set aside.
  4. Blend chocolate pudding with milk until thickened. Pour over banana layer and set aside.
  5. In another bowl, whip cream cheese with powdered sugar, cool whip, milk, and vanilla and blend until as smooth as possible. Some lumps may remain. Pour over chocolate pudding layer.
  6. Decorate with maraschino cherries and crushed walnuts if desired.
  7. Refrigerate for one hour or as long as you can stand it!
