Aunt Judy's Ham Loaf with help from the Amish
INGREDIENTS

  • Preparation Time: 10
  • 1 lb. ground pork
  • 1/2 lb. ground ham
  • 3/4 Cup milk
  • 1/2 cup fresh bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Tbls. instant tapioca
  • 1/2 tsp prepared horseradish
  • 3-4 drops red food color (optional)
  • Sauce: 1/2 Cup ketchup
  • 2 Tbls. packed brown sugar
  • 1 Tbls. worcestershire sauce
DIRECTIONS
  1. In large bowl, mix together pork, ham, milk, crumbs, egg, tapioca, horseradish and food coloring; if desired, until well blended.
  2. Place mixture in loaf pan and bake at 325 degrees F for 1 hour.
  3. In small bowl, stir together sauce ingredients. Pour sauce over ham loaf and bake for another 30 minutes basting occasionally with sauce.
  4. Remove from oven; let stand 10 minutes before removing from pan. Slice to serve.
  5. Keep in mind, their foods were cooked without electricity. Just imagine. Enjoy !!!
