Aunt Mary's Chocolate Cake

  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1/2 c. cooking oil
  • 4 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 tsp. instant coffee
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tsp vanilla
DIRECTIONS
  1. Preheat oven, 350 degrees.
  2. Sift all dry ingredients together in large mixing bowl.
  3. Place water, margarine, oil, cocoa and instant coffee together in saucepan, bring to boil.
  4. Pour over dry ingredients and mix thoroughly.
  5. Combine buttermilk, eggs and vanilla; add to other ingredients.
  6. Stir throroughly and pour into prepared (greased and floured) 9 x 13 inch cake pan.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees until done.

This is my family's favorite chocolate cake. We usually serve it with a fudge frosting.
