B A Cookies
  • Cooking Time: 8 - 12
  • Servings: 3 large cookies
  • Preparation Time: 5 - 10
  • 1/2 cup butter (I always use real, unsalted butter)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup chocolate covered raisins
  • 1/2 cup nuts, chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla (I always use royal vanilla)
  1. Beat butter and sugar well. Add eggs and vanilla; beat. Add dry ingredients; blend in raisins and nuts. Drop 1/3 cup dough on slightly greased pan. Pat to 4".
  2. Bake 8 to 12 minutes @ 350ºF.
  3. Cool on pan for 2 minutes. Remove to wire rack to cool completely. Wrap in plastic wrap and place in air tight container to stay crisp.
This recipe came from my great-grandparents collection. My great-grandfather was a firefighter and when he retired he took up baking cookies as a way to pass the time. I have no idea what the "B A" stands for (knowing my great grandfather, it stood for big ass), nor do any of my surviving relatives remember ever eating them before. I have made them myself and find them to be quite good. If anyone knows of this recipe under a different name, I'd be grateful for any information...
