Baked Alaskas
  • Chocolate cake sheets
  • Vanilla ice cream
  • Meringue (made by beating 6 egg whites with 1 1/2 cups sugar to stiff peaks)
  1. Cut cake sheets into 4 inch rounds, top with a large mounded scoop of ice cream. Pipe meringue stars to completely cover ice cream. Freeze until just before serving. When time for service, place baked alaska in under a broiler (or use a kitchen torch) to brown the meringue. Place on a plate and spoon custard sauce all around to fill the plate and serve immediately.
