Baked French Toast Casserole with Praline Topping
  • 1-loaf french bread(13-160z)
  • 8-large eggs
  • 2-cps half and half
  • 1-cp milk
  • 2-tbls granulated sugar
  • 1-tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4-tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4-tsp nutmeg
  • dash of salt
  • maple syrup
  • Praline topping:
  • 1/2-lb (2 sticks of butter)
  • 1-cp light brown sugar
  • 1 cp chopped pecans
  • 2-tbls light corn syrup
  • 1/2tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2tsp nutmeg
  1. Slice french bread into 20 slices,1 inch each.Arrange slices in a generously buttered 9 by 13 in. flat baking dish in 2 rows,over lapping the slices.In a large bowl, combine the eggs,half and half,milk,sugar,vanilla,cinnamon,nutmeg and salt and beat with a rotary beater or whisk till blended but not to bubbly.Pour mixture over bread slices, making sure all are covered evenly with milk-egg mixture.Spoon some of the mixture in between slices.Cover with foil and refrigerate over night.
  2. The next day.pre-heat oven to 350*
  3. Spread Praline topping evenly over the bread and bake for 40min.,till puffed lightly golden.Serve with maple syrup. do not cover with foil.

  5. Combine all ingredients in medium bowl and blend well. Makes enough for casserole
