Baked Pretzels

  • Dough:
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 large egg
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 3 cups flour
  • 4 tsp. sugar
  • 2 tsp. bread machine yeast
  • Topping:
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp. water
  • coarse salt, sesame seeds or poppy seeds, grated Parmesan cheese
DIRECTIONS
  1. Measure all dough ingredients into bread machine pan in the order suggested by the manufacturer. Process on dough cycle.
  2. When cycle is complete remove the dough to a floured surface. If necessary, knead in additional flour to make dough easy to handle. Divide into 12 pieces; roll each to a 16” rope. On greased baking sheets curve each to form a circle, crossing ends over at top. Twist ends once; bring crossed ends over bottom of circle. Lightly beat together the egg and water; brush on pretzels. Sprinkle with coarse salt or other toppings.
  3. Bake at 350 for 18 to 20 minutes or until done, switching positions of pans halfway through baking. Serve warm.
