Banana Fruit Cake

INGREDIENTS
  • 1½ c. sifted flour
  • 1½ c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 (7¼ oz.) pkg. dates
  • 2 (20 oz.) cans pineapple chunks, drained
  • 1½ c. raisins
  • 2 (16 oz.) jars maraschino cherries, drained
  • 4 c. pecans
  • 6 eggs
  • ½ c. orange juice
DIRECTIONS
  1. Grease 2 loaf pans and line with greased brown paper.
  2. Sift flour, sugar, baking powder and salt into large bowl.
  3. Add fruit and nuts. Toss.
  4. Beat eggs and juice; pour over fruit mixture and combine.
  5. Turn mixture into pans and pack lightly.
  6. Bake 300° for 1¾ hours or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
