Best Ever Cake-From-Scratch

  • 1 cup butter-flavored Crisco
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup skim milk
  • 3 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • cinnamon
  • 1-2 tbsp butter, melted
  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. In a large bowl, mix the first six ingredients using an electric mixer. When all ingredients are well mixed, pour batter into a greased 13" by 9" glass baking dish. Place in oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the edges start to turn golden, but the center is still jiggly.
  2. Mix the melted butter and cinnamon together in a small bowl and pour over the partially baked cake. Place cake in the oven for another 10 to 15 minutes or until cake is golden on top and an inserted toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
  3. Cut into desired size/amount of pieces. Serve at room temperature or warmed with ice cream, if desired. Make it a dessert, breakfast, or both.
I don't remember where I came across this recipe, but I have tweaked it a bit (adding bake times and ingredients). It's super easy and super yummy.
