Blackberrry vodka

  • 2 clamshell blackberries
  • zest from 2 lemons
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 bottle skyy vodka 750 ml
  1. in saucepan, combine blackberries, lemon zest, and sugar
  2. simmer until sugar is completely dissolved
  3. Let cool completely
  4. filter through cheesecloth, folded over 5 or 6 times to make sure nothing but syrup gets through
  5. combine with vodka and keep in cool dark place for about a month before drinking
  6. keep in freezer and serve over ice - but be careful, this stuff is potent!
I went to a bar in san jose and they were known for making their own infused vodkas - I thought I would give it a try - and ended up giving it away for Christmas presents and it was a hit!
