CREAM CHEESE KIFFLE WITH DATE AND WALNUT FILLING

  • Kiffle Dough:
  • ½ lb. butter
  • 2 cups flour
  • 8 oz. cream cheese
  • Powdered sugar as needed
  • Filling:
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 2 cups of finely chopped dates
  • 1 cup of chopped walnuts
DIRECTIONS
  1. Kiffle Dough:
  2. Cream butter, cream cheese together and add flour until incorporated. Roll dough into walnut shaped balls and refrigerate overnight or until chilled. Roll balls out on surface that has been dusted with powdered sugar. Fill each Kiffle circle with ½ tsp. of date nut filling. Pinch end of Kiffles or press with a fork. Bake seem side down at 350 F for 10 to 12 minutes or until they turn a light shade of brown. Dust cooled Kiffles with additional powdered sugar.

  4. Heat sugar and water together on stove until sugar dissolves. Add dates and walnuts and cook on low heat for 5 to 10 minutes. Watch carefully so filling doesn’t burn.
