Cabbage and Noodles

  • Preparation Time: 1 hour
  • 1 Head Cabbage
  • 1 stick of butter
  • 16 oz bag of egg noodles or bow tie noodles
  • salt to taste
  1. Cut cabbage into one inch pieces
  2. Melt 1/4 cup of butter
  3. Start adding cabbage to large fry pan
  4. As cabbage cooks down keep adding remaining cabbage
  5. Do not rush this part the cabbage takes a while to cook down
  6. Cook over medium/low heat for an 45 minutes
  7. Cabbage will start turning light brown
  8. Be careful not to burn the cabbage
  9. Add butter as needed. 2 tablespoons at a time
  10. Salt to taste
  11. While the cabbage is cooking boil the noodles as directed on package
  12. Drain the noodles
  13. When cabbage is done add noodles
I grew up in a Hungarian/Ukrainian family. Cabbage and noodles were part of our life. My mother called cabbage and noodles smelly cabbage.
