Caramel Sauce

  • Servings: makes 1 pint
  • Preparation Time: 5 minutes
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. + 1 T. butter, melted
  • 3/4 c. heavy cream
  1. In a large heavy pan, heat pan over medium heat. Add 1/4 c. sugar to bottom of pan, reduce heat to medium low and stir constantly until sugar melts. As sugar melts, add another 1/4 c. layer of sugar, and continue melting sugar until all is melted and golden colored. Add butter and stir well until butter is incorporated. Take off heat, count to three and slowly add cream, stirring well. You can add 1 t. vanilla, if desired, stirring well. Pour into one or two mason jars, cover with lid. Store in fridge until ready to use. Let come to room temp before using.
This caramel sauce is so easy to make and so good, I never buy store bought. Besides when you make it yourself, you know it's GF.
