Caramel Surprise Cake
INGREDIENTS
- 1.) 1 package Betty Crocker® SuperMoist® butter recipe white cake mix
- 2.) 1-1/4 cups water
- 3.) 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 4.) 3 egg whites
- 5.) 3/4 cup caramel topping
- 6.) 1 tub Betty Crocker® Pour & Frost™ chocolate frosting
- 7.) 2 small red apples, cut into total of 12 wedges
- 8.) 2 tablespoons orange juice
- 9.) 1/4 cup caramel topping
- 10.)1/4 cup chopped nuts, if desired
DIRECTIONS
- Surprise! Pour & Frost™ frosting tops a quick and easy cake that has yummy pockets of caramel.
- Ingredients:
- 1.) 1 package Betty Crocker® SuperMoist® butter recipe white cake mix
- 2.) 1-1/4 cups water
- 3.) 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 4.) 3 egg whites
- 5.) 3/4 cup caramel topping
- 6.) 1 tub Betty Crocker® Pour & Frost™ chocolate frosting
- 7.) 2 small red apples, cut into total of 12 wedges
- 8.) 2 tablespoons orange juice
- 9.) 1/4 cup caramel topping
- 10.)1/4 cup chopped nuts, if desired
- Preparation:
- 1. Heat oven to 350ºF. Make cake mix as directed on package for 13x9-inch pan, using water, butter and egg whites; cool 15 minutes. Poke holes halfway into cake every 2 inches, using handle of wooden spoon; evenly pour 3/4 cup caramel topping over holes. Microwave and stir frosting as directed on tub. Pour frosting over cake; spread evenly.
- 2. Dip cut edges of apple wedges into orange juice to prevent browning; slightly pat dry. Dip uncut edges into 1/4 cup caramel topping; roll in nuts. Place apple wedges on cake.
