Carl’s Cabbage Cream Pie

- Cooking Time: 15-25 minutes
- Filling Ingredients:
- 3 T butter
- 1 onion
- 1 small cabbage
- 1/8 tsp Shredded basil, marjoram, tarragon
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 lb mushrooms
- 4 oz cream cheese
- 4 or 5 hard-boiled eggs, sliced
- Dill
- Pastry Ingredients:
- 1-1/4 C flour
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 3 T butter
- 4 oz. cream cheese
DIRECTIONS
- Directions: Filling
- Melt 2 tablespoons butter.
- Add onion and cabbage.
- Add 1/8 tsp of spices, salt and pepper.
- Cook until cabbage wilts.
- Set cabbage mixture aside.
- Sauté mushrooms.
- Directions: Pastry
- Sift dry ingredients.
- Cut in butter.
- Work in cream cheese.
- Roll out 2/3 in pie shell.
- Save 1/3 for top.
- Directions: Assembly
- Fill pastry shell with cream cheese.
- Add the egg, dill, cabbage, mushroom.
- Top with pastry.
- Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes (or at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes).
