Carl’s Cabbage Cream Pie
INGREDIENTS
  • Cooking Time: 15-25 minutes
  • Filling Ingredients:
  • 3 T butter
  • 1 onion
  • 1 small cabbage
  • 1/8 tsp Shredded basil, marjoram, tarragon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 lb mushrooms
  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • 4 or 5 hard-boiled eggs, sliced
  • Dill
  • Pastry Ingredients:
  • 1-1/4 C flour
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 T butter
  • 4 oz. cream cheese
DIRECTIONS
  1. Directions: Filling
  2. Melt 2 tablespoons butter.
  3. Add onion and cabbage.
  4. Add 1/8 tsp of spices, salt and pepper.
  5. Cook until cabbage wilts.
  6. Set cabbage mixture aside.
  7. Sauté mushrooms.
  8. Directions: Pastry
  9. Sift dry ingredients.
  10. Cut in butter.
  11. Work in cream cheese.
  12. Roll out 2/3 in pie shell.
  13. Save 1/3 for top.
  14. Directions: Assembly
  15. Fill pastry shell with cream cheese.
  16. Add the egg, dill, cabbage, mushroom.
  17. Top with pastry.
  18. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes (or at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes).
