Cherokee Fried Hominy
  • Several Strips of Bacon
  • One or two Cans of White Hominy
  • Onion if desired
  • Black Pepper to taste
  1. Fry bacon crisp. Remove from pan.
  2. Drain most of grease. Drain water off hominy. Fry hominy in bacon grease. Crumble bacon & mix in hominy
My Dad's side and my Moma's, both have Cherokee blood. More on my Dad's, from the Wolf Clan of east Tennessee. This is one of the foods they have made for years. Of corse they also made thier own hominy from home grown corn. The picture shows making hominy in a Indian village.
