Chewy Cocoa Brownies

  • 1 2/3 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cups butter or margarine, melted
  • 2 Tbsp water
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 1/3 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup cocoa
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup copped nuts (optional)
  • powdered sugar
DIRECTIONS
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease 13 X 9 baking pan.
  2. Combine sugar, butter, and water in large bowl.
  3. Stir in eggs and vanilla.
  4. Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt in medium bowl; stir into sugar mixture.
  5. Stir in nuts.
  6. Spread into prepared pan.
  7. Bake 18 to25 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center come out slightly sticky.
  8. Cool completely in pan on wire rack.
  9. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and cut into bars.
