Chili Steak & Potatoes

  • 3 ribs Celery, chopped
  • 1 large Onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 2 tsp olive Oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 pounds Round steak
  • 2 cups Hot water
  • 1 tsp beef broth grandules
  • 1/4 cup Chili sauce
  • 1/4 tsp Pepper
  • 3 medium Potatoes, cubed
  • 3 carrots, peeled & cut into 1/2 inch slices
  • 2 tsp Parsley
  • 1 tsp Dry mustard
  • 4 cups cooked white rice
DIRECTIONS
  1. Sauté the celery, onion and garlic in 1 tbsp of the oil until tender. Remove and reserve.
  2. Pound flour into both sides of the meat. Salt meat. Brown the meat in remaining 1 tbsp of oil.
  3. Stir 1 cup of the hot water into broth and dry mustard in a 2 cup measure. Add to skillet. Add chili sauce, pepper, reserved celery, onion and garlic to skillet. Cover.
  4. Simmer 1 hour and 15 minutes. Stir in remaining 1 cup water to thin the gravy. Add the potatoes and carrots and sprinkle with the remaining 1/4 teaspoon salt. Continue cooking for 30 to 45 minutes, or till vegetables are tender. Serve over cooked white rice.
