Chocolate Cake

INGREDIENTS
  • 2 cups sifted cake flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup crisco
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 squares melted chocolate
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3 whole eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
DIRECTIONS
  1. Measure into a mixing bowl the first 6 ingredients. Blend thoroughly on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  2. Stir in the baking soda and baking powder.
  3. Add the milk, eggs, and vanilla. Blend on medium speed for 2 minutes. Pour into two square 9" layer pans (1-1/2" deep) which have been greased and lined with waxed paper. If you use smaller pans do not use all the batter. Fill only half full and use rest of batter to make cupcakes.
  4. Bake at 350° for about 40 minutes. Less if using smaller pans.
  5. Used as all cupcakes this can be baked at 375° for about 20 minutes and will make approximately 30 medium cup cakes
