Chocolate Turtle Cookies
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 6 oz. pkg. (1 cup) semi sweet chocolate chips, divided
  • 1/3 cup softened butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 8 doz. pecan halves
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a small bowl combine flour, baking powder and salt; set aside.
  3. Combine over hot (not boiling) water 1/2 cup chocolate chips and butter.
  4. Stir until morsels are melted and mixture is smooth.
  5. Transfer to a small bowl.
  6. Stir in sugar and egg; beat with wooden spoon. Stir in flour mixture; mix well.
  7. For each cookie place 3 pecan halves (with ends touching at centre) on a cookie sheet.
  8. Drop rounded tsp. of batter in centre of pecans. Bake for 8 to 9 minutes.
  9. Cool completely.
  10. Spoon glaze on top.
  11. Glaze: Melt over hot (not boiling) water the remaining 1/2 cup chocolate chips; stir until smooth.
  12. Place 1/4 tsp. in centre of each cookie.
These are a bit different than the squares of the same name. It is clusters of the nuts with batter on the top.
