Christmas Cheese Crackers
  • 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 cup (4 ounces) grated sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons chopped chives
  • 1 teaspoon whole caraway seed
  • 1 teaspoon steak sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In a large bowl, beat butter and cheese using lowest speed of an electric mixer until well blended.
  3. Add next 5 ingredients; mix until a soft dough forms.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, use a floured rolling pin to roll out dough to 1/4-inch thickness.
  5. Use a tree-shaped cookie cutter to cut out crackers.
  6. Transfer to a greased baking sheet. Sprinkle salt over crackers.
  7. Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until crackers are light brown.
  8. Cool completely on a wire rack.
  9. Store in an airtight container.
  10. Yield: about 3-1/2 dozen crackers
