Cinnamon Apple Pork Chops
INGREDIENTS
  • Cooking Time: 35-40 minutes

  • 4-6 Boneless Pork Chops
  • 2-3 Apples, peeled and sliced (I used Granny Smith apples)
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) Unsalted Butter
  • 1/4-1/3 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon, divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon Nutmeg, divided
  • 1/2 tablespoon Cornstarch, optional
  • Salt and Ground Black Pepper, to taste
  • Fresh Rosemary, minced, garnish
DIRECTIONS
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
  2. Peel, core and slice apples
  3. Place sliced apples in the bottom of a large baking dish
  4. Sprinkle with 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon and 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
  5. Season pork chops with salt and pepper to your liking
  6. Place pork chops on top of apple slices
  7. In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, combine butter and brown sugar, whisking until melted and incorporated
  8. Stir in remaining 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon and 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg into butter mixture
  9. Also, whisk in cornstarch, if using
  10. (Cornstarch is not essential, this is only used if you want a thicker glaze)
  11. Pour mixture over pork chops and apple slices, then place in oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until pork is cooked through
  12. Remove from oven, sprinkle with fresh rosemary and enjoy

The sweetness of the apples and the hearty pork chops, topped with a spiced brown sugar glaze are the perfect dish to help set you off into the fall. you can make the glaze as sweet as you like, though 1/4-1/3 cup of brown sugar seems to be the sweet spot. Don't be afraid to mix up your selection of apples. Granny Smith, Honeycrisp and Fujis seem to be the popular selections
