Double Chocolate Christmas Star Cookies

- 1 1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate morsels
- 1 cup flour
- 3/4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 cup softened butter, divided in two
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 egg
- Cookie bling (sparkle sugar, nonpareils, etc.)
DIRECTIONS
- Melt 1/2 cup morsels in a double boiler, stirring until smooth, and set aside
- Combine dry ingredients, set aside
- Cream 1/4 cup butter, sugar, and vanilla together, add egg
- Blend in melted chocolate
- Add flour mixture gradually until well combined
- Shape into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill 1 hour
- Roll chilled dough on floured surface to an 1/8 inch thickness
- Cut wit star cookie cutters and place on a cookie sheet lined with parchment
- Bake 8 - 10 minutes at 350 degrees, cool on a wire rack
- Melt together remaining morsels and remaining 1/4 cup butter, stirring until smooth.
- Spread over cooled cookies and adorn with cookie bling
