Drunk Beef (Sherried Beef)
  • Cooking Time: 210-240
  • 3 lbs stew beef
  • 1 envelope dry onion soup mix
  • 3/4 cup cooking sherry
  • 3 cans mushroom soup
  • Cooked noodles or mashed potatoes
  1. Heat oven to 325 degrees F.
  2. Put beef in large bowl. Set aside.
  3. Combine other ingredients in saucepan and heat through to a simmer. Pour over meat and cover bowl with foil. Put in oven and bake for 3 1/2 to 4 hours.
  4. Serve over noodles or mashed potatoes.
  5. If you like more gravy add a fourth can of soup and a touch more sherry. I have even added canned mushrooms for an added touch for company.
This recipe was named Drunk Beef by my younger sister who was "afraid" to eat it because it had Sherry in it. The original title was Sherried Beef.
