Dutch apple dessert
  • Cooking Time: 1 hour until golden brown
  • Servings: 1 dozen squares
  • Preparation Time: 20 minutes
  • 5 medium all purpose apples, pared, cored, and sliced.
  • 1 14 oz can sweetened condensed (not evaporated) milk.
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon.
  • 10 tbsp margarine, cold.
  • 1 1/2 cups biscuit baking mix.
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar.
  • 1/2 chopped nuts.
  • Vanilla ice cream (optional).
  1. Preheat oven to 325. In a medium bowl, combine apples, condensed milk, and cinnamon; set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, cut 8 tbsp margarine into 1 cup biscuit mix until crumbly. Stir in apple mixture.
  3. Pour into greased 9 inches square baking pan. In small bowl, combine remaining 1/2 cup biscuit mix and sugar; cut in remaining 2 tbsp margarine until crumbly.
  4. Add nuts. Sprinkle evenly over apple mixture. Bake 1 hour or until golden. Serve warm with ice cream if desired.
I love this recipe because it is something very good for an occasion or for holiday. It is super simple to make and can make a great dessert.
