Easy Poached Egg
  • Cooking Time: Less than 1 minute
  • Servings: 1
  • Preparation Time: Less than 5 mins
  • 1 Jumbo egg
  • 1/2 cup cold tap water
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  1. We start by taking 1 jumbo egg out of the fridge and placing it in a bowl of hot tap water to take the chill off. You can leave it in there for about 2 minutes
  2. take a microwave safe small bowl, like a small cereal bowl and place 1/2 cup of COLD tap water in it.
  3. crack the egg into the cold water and place in the microwave. Ours turns out a perfectly poached egg in 39 seconds. Your time might vary, so experiment at first. Try 35, then one at 40 and one at 45, etc, until you find the perfect number.
  4. remove the poached egg with a slotted spoon and place it on what ever you are pairing it with.
  5. add your salt and pepper to taste
Not everyone seems to master the traditional way of poaching eggs. That's okay, this is faster and easier. However, in the very beginning you're going to mess up a few, until you find the right amount of time for your microwave. Once you do, remember that for the future. In our panasonic 1250 watt nuker, one jumbo egg is perfectly poached, Runny but done, in 39 seconds. At 45 the yolk is solid, and we don't like that. In our older smaller unit, it needed 46 seconds for the perfect poach. so yes, you will probably need to test 3 or 4 the first time. But after that, it's always the same.
