Every Kid's Sugar Cookie

  • Servings: 4 Dozen
  • Preparation Time: 15 minutes
  • 1 tub or small jar of Rainbow sprinkles
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup of butter
  • 1/2 cup of shortening
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 2-1/2 cups of sifted flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons of milk
  1. preheat oven to 400 degrees
  2. Cream the butter (mix it well) until it gets nice and soft
  3. Cover your cookie sheets with parchment paper
  4. once the butter is soft combine the butter, the shortening and the sugar and vanilla together. Mix well.
  5. Sift the flour, the baking soda and the salt together and mix well
  6. Stir in the sifted ingredients until fully blended.
  7. fold in the milk and mix until smooth
  8. Using a tablespoon, scoop up the mixture and using your hands, roll it into a ball
  9. Dip half of the ball ( the top so to speak) in the rainbow sprinkles
  10. drop the balls, sprinkle side up on the parchment paper
  11. bake at 400 for 12 - 14 minutes
The Holidays mean visitors and often with children. More times than not, no matter how many chocolate chip cookies I make, we eventually run out. But the kids tend to like these just as well, so we make these too.
