FRENCH ONION SALISBURY STEAK

  • 2 lbs. grass fed ground beef
  • 1/2 c. GGFG breadcrumbs (or your GF breadcrumbs)
  • 2 packages dry onion soup mix
  • 1 egg or 1/4 c. mayo
  • 1 t. garlic salt
  • 1 t. freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • olive oil
DIRECTIONS
  1. In a large bowl combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, dry onion soup mix, egg or mayo, garlic salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined. Divide into 6 portions and shape into oval patties. Refrigerate for 30 minutes before grilling. Put a piece of heavy duty foil on the grill and spray with cooking spray. Place beef patties on grill with onion slices and grill until meat reaches 155F on instant thermometer and onions are carmelized. Serve beef and onions together immediately.

We enjoy Salisbury steak with mushroom brown gravy in the cooler months. This recipe is adapted for the warmer months of the year when we still enjoy Salisbury steak, but want to keep the heat outside.
