Flea Dip
CATEGORIES
INGREDIENTS
  • Preparation Time: 5 min
  • Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Borax
DIRECTIONS
  1. Thoroughly douse pet in apple cider vinegar. Do not dry, do not rinse. The vinegar kills the fleas, soothes the skin and conditions the fur.
  2. Sprinkle the borax into carpets and furniture, use a brush or broom to push it into carpet fibers. Let set 2-3 days then start vacuuming 2 a week for a month. The borax dehydrates the unhatched eggs so they never hatch, it sterilizes the adult fleas so they can't lay more eggs. The consistent vacuuming deals with the leftovers and as an added bonus borax eliminates odors that may be trapped in your carpets.
RECIPE BACKSTORY
We had an infestation on our animals and in our house a couple years ago after babysitting a friends cat for them. We had tried just about everything we could think of and nothing was working. A friend gave me two suggestions that worked perfectly and were non-toxic to my children and my pets. BONUS: Ants love to carry the borax back to their colonies and wipe out the whole colony by feeding it to the queen.
