Frosted Lemon Cookies

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tbsp grated lemon peel
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/ 4 tsp salt
  • For The Glaze:
  • 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
DIRECTIONS
  1. Heat the oven to 400 F Combine all the cookie ingredients in a large bowl.
  2. Beat at low speed
  3. Scrape the bowl often, until well mixed
  4. Drop the dough by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets
  5. Bake for 6 to 8 minutes or until the edges are lightly browned
  6. Meanwhile, combine all the glaze ingredients in a small bowl
  7. Stir until smooth.
  8. Frost the warm cookies with the glaze.
  9. Sprinkle with grated lemon peel, if desired
