Gaseous Diffusion Reactor
INGREDIENTS

  • 32 oz. dried navy beans
  • 14 cups water or broth
  • 6 cups diced ham
  • 3 large onion, diced
  • 6 carrots, sliced
  • 6 stalks celery, sliced
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoon pepper
  • 5 bay leaves
  • 2 teaspoon thyme
  • 2 teaspoon rosemary
DIRECTIONS
  1. Rinse beans and throw into a large stock pot on campfire or grill.
  2. Add water/broth and bring to a boil.
  3. After boiling for a few minutes, remove from heat, cover, and let sit for about an hour.
  4. Add ham, onion, salt, pepper, thyme, rosemary and bay leaves.
  5. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour, or until beans are soft.
  6. Add carrots and celery and cook for another 30 minutes, or until carrots are soft.
RECIPE BACKSTORY
Ham & bean soup is what it is, my husbung gave it this name. Makes enough soup to feed a sizable camp. That way you can freeze it for lazy nights.
