German Chocolate Toffee Cookies

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 pkg (4 oz.) German Sweet Chocolate, melted and cooled
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tsp water
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 6 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups English toffee bits or almond brickle chips
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts
DIRECTIONS
  1. In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter, shortening, and both of the sugars until light and fluffy
  2. Beat in the chocolate
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time
  4. Beat well after each addition
  5. Beat in the water and vanilla
  6. Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt
  7. Gradually add to the creamed mixture
  8. Stir in the toffee bits and the walnuts
  9. Drop by tablespoons 2 inches apart onto greased baking sheets
  10. Bake at 350 F for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown
  11. Remove to wire racks to cool
