German Red Cabbage
  • 1 onion diced
  • 1 head of red cabbage
  • 3 to 4 whole cloves
  • 2 to 3 Bay leaves
  • 1 apple, peeled and diced
  • a dash of salt
  • 1to 2 cups of sugar, to taste
  • 1 cup white vinegar, or to taste
  1. In a large pot, sauté onions until tender. Add the remaining ingredients into the pot. Cook over a low to medium flame until cabbage is soft, approximately 1 hour. Adjust flavor by adding vinegar and/or sugar according to taste. Rosie liked her cabbage sour.
