Ginger - Sugar Cookies

  • 2 c. sifted Flour
  • 2 t. Baking Soda
  • 1 t. Cinnamon
  • 1 t. ground Cloves
  • 1 t. Ginger
  • 1/4 t. Salt
  • 1 1/3 c. Sugar
  • 3/4 c. soft Crisco
  • 1/4 c. Light Molasses
  • 1 Egg
DIRECTIONS
  1. Sift flour with soda, cinnamon, cloves, ginger and salt, set aside.
  2. In large bowl gradually add 1 c. sugar to shortening (using electric mixer). Cream til light and fluffy, about 5 min.
  3. Blend in molasses and egg. At low speed , beat in flour mixture just until well mixed.
  4. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
  5. Preheat oven to 375.
  6. Pinch off pieces of dough; shape into 1 1/4" balls. Roll in remaining sugar. Place 2 1/2 in. apart on cookie sheets; bake 8 - 10 min. or until golden brown.
