Glady's Chili
  • Cooking Time: 60 Min
  • Servings: 6 to 8
  • Preparation Time: 30 Min
  • 2 Lbs Hamburger, Turkey or cubed beef
  • 1 to 2 46 Oz. Cans to Tomato Juice Low Sodium I prefer Campbell's depending on how juicy you like it.
  • 15 oz. Can of tomatoes drained
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 3 Cloves of garlic chopped
  • 1 to 2 4 oz. cans of green chili
  • 1 bottle of Light Beer {since I am from Colorado I use Coors}
  • 1 to 2 cans of no salt added pinto beans
  • 1 jalapeno chopped fine
  • 1 pack of Wick Fowler Seasoning Packet
  • 1 bag of Fritos
  1. Brown ground beef, turkey or cubed beef and add the onions, and garlic-Drain the fat
  2. ADD the following in a large pot and stir:
  3. 1 to 2 - 46 oz can of Campbell tomato juice.
  4. 1 - 15 oz can diced tomatoes - drained -
  5. 1 to 2 cans pinto beans
  6. 1 to 2 cans of green chili
  7. chopped jalapeño
  8. bottle of beer {since I am from Colorado I use Coors}
  9. ADD the seasoning packets, except MASA. (Try the Masa the first time), you might like it, it changes the taste of the Chile, COVER and simmer 30 minutes or until meat is tender. Stir occasionally.
  10. For a thicker chili, stir the packet of Masa flour into 1/4 cup of warm water.
  11. Stir into chili and simmer 30 minutes.
  12. This is so easy and we love it I usually add more cumin. To taste as with any recipe you can make it your own by adding or leaving something out.
  13. Growing up of course it was cornbread. Now it's both cornbread or Fritos.
  14. Garnish with sour cream, avocado's, jalapeño if you like it hotter
My mom was a great inventor of food when she found this recipe she very much made it her own. Submitted by: "Mary Cosgrove"
