Gloria's famous creamed corn

  • 2 cans Green Giant Niblets corn -drained
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 pt half and half
  • 1/3 c sugar
  • 2 T roasted garlic
  • 1/8 t garlic tabasco
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 3 T heaping cornstarch
  • water as needed
  1. In a large pot, combine corn and butter, heat on low until butter is melted
  2. Add 1/2 of the sugar to the corn mixture and mix well
  3. Add half and half and remainder of sugar, mix well
  4. Add roasted garlic and tabasco, mix well
  5. Add salt and pepper to taste
  6. Increase heat to medium low
  7. In a separate bowl, mix cornstarch with water to create slurry
  8. When corn starts to boil, add cornstarch mixture slowly to get desired consistency
My friend Gloria is a great cook, and she is kind enough to share her recipes with me and let me "tweak" them to my own taste. I really like creamed corn, and have been looking for a recipe like one I usually get in my favorite bbq places for a long time
