Grandma's Famous Cheese Straws
  • Cooking Time: 10 or less
  • Servings: 100 straws
  • Preparation Time: 20 min
  • 1/2 cup butter (half margarine if desired )
  • 1 Cup grated cheese (NY State grated)
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking power
  • 1/2 tsp dry mustard (or wet)
  • 4 Tbsp ice water
  • Dash of Tabasco
  1. Cut in butter, cheese, flour, salt, baking power and mustard with pastry cutter.
  2. Add water and Tabasco
  3. Form into ball and put in bowl.
  4. Refrigerate dough so it is chilled
  5. After dough is chilled, use cookie press and make spritz logs.
  6. Or roll out dough and cut into strips.
  7. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes or less
These were a holiday favorite. Pat fixed them so they were served hot from the oven as her guest arrived. She recommended the recipe be doubled.
