Grandma Catherine's Chow Mein

  • 3 lbs hamburger
  • 4 large onions-chopped
  • 2 bunches of celery-chopped
  • 1 can beef broth
  • 2 cans of bean sprouts
  • 2 cans of mushrooms
  • Soy sauce
  1. Brown hamburger, drain. Add celery and onions, cover with water and boil till tender.
  2. Add beef broth, bean sprouts, mushrooms and soy sauce to taste. Simmer for an hour.
  3. Can add corn starch to thicken if need be. Simmer for 1 hour.
This recipe was one of Hubby's Grandmother's specialties. With 11 children during the depression simple that served many was a must. Hubby and the other grandkids still rave about it.
