Grandma Hazel's Homemade Macaroni and Cheese
INGREDIENTS
- Preparation Time: 15 minutes
- 1 lb elbow or shell macaroni
- 1 stick unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 cups whole milk
- 4 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- Salt and Pepper to taste
DIRECTIONS
- Cook macaroni according to package directions until al dente.
- In a large saucepan, melt butter. Once melted, remove from heat and whisk in flour. Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Return butter-flour mixture to medium heat and slowly whisk in milk.
- Add cheese a handful at a time, continuously stirring until cheese has melted.
- Combine with macaroni and serve hot.
