INGREDIENTS

  • 1/4 cup margarine
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 cups (8 oz.) cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 cups diced cooked ham
  • 1 cup (or more if preferred) onion, chopped
  • 6 cups potatoes peeled, boiled and sliced
  • 2 quart casserole dish
DIRECTIONS
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Make white sauce with margarine, flour, milk and seasonings on stove. Add 1 1/2 cups cheese, stir until melted. Stir in ham and onion. Alternate layers of potatoes and cheese sauce in a 2 quart casserole dish. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes. Top with remaining `1/2 cup of cheese and finish cooking until the cheese is melted.
