Hamburger Upside Down Casserole
INGREDIENTS

  • 2 1/2 cups macaroni
  • 3 tbs butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup minced onion
  • 2 tsp garlic
  • 1 lb. ground beef - I use extra lean
  • 1 - 8 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 tsp dried oregano
  • 1-8oz package grated cheddar cheese
  • 3 egs beaten
  • 3/4 cup milk
DIRECTIONS
  1. Cook macaroni as directed on box.
  2. Saute onion and garlic in hot butter in a large skillet till tender.
  3. Add ground beef stirring constantly until brown.
  4. Stir in tomato sauce, salt, pepper and oregano. Simmer a few minutes. Spread in the bottom of a 2 quart greased casserole.
  5. Toss drained macaroni in grated cheese. Arrange on top of meat mixture. Packing it down.
  6. Combine beaten eggs and milk. Pour over macaroni. Cover casserole and refridgerate till the next day.
  7. About 2 hours before serving, eat oven to 350 degrees F. Let casserole stand out 15 minutes.
  8. Bake 1 1/2 hours or until macaroni is golden and custard is set.
