Havarti Onion Biscuits

  • 2 1/2 Cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 Tbsps. Baking Powder
  • 1/2 Cup Cold Salted Butter
  • 1 Cup Butter Milk
  • 1 1/2 Cups Havarti Cheese
  • 1/2 Cup Caramelized Onions
  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees
  2. Caramelize onions over medium heat until a deep brown color but not burned. Set aside until cooled
  3. Combine flour and baking powder
  4. Cut cold butter into the flour with a pastry cutter, fork, or food processor until pea-sized
  5. Add shredded cheese and onions, mix thoroughly
  6. Create a well in the center and pour in the buttermilk
  7. Mix well but don't overmix!
  8. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured work surface and gently turn into a rough rectangle
  9. Fold the dough into the center from all 4 sides and roll out. Repeat the process twice more until the dough is about 1/2 inch thick
  10. Cut into your desired size biscuits
  11. Put into baking pan
  12. Brush tops with milk or egg wash
  13. Bake for 15 minutes or until light golden brown
