Help Yourself Hummus

  • Hummus Base:
  • 2 cans of chickpeas (1 can drained)
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup of fresh lemon juice
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste
  • 2 Tbl of sesame seeds
  • Red Pepper Puree:
  • 2 sweet red pepper
  • olive oil
  1. Hummus Base:
  2. Drain 1 can of chickpeas and then add to food processor
  3. Add the 2nd non-drained can of chickpeas to the food processor
  4. Mince the garlic and add the to the chickpeas
  5. Add the olive oil
  6. Add the lemon juice
  7. Blend ingredients until desired consistency
  8. (add additional olive oil or lemon if needed)
  9. Add salt and pepper to taste
  10. Add 1Tbl of sesame seeds
  11. Blend the ingredients again until desired consistency
  12. Pour/Scoop into serving bowl
  13. Red Pepper Puree:
  14. Set oven to broil
  15. Lightly coat a baking sheet with non-stick spray
  16. Wash, core, and quarter the 2 red peppers
  17. Place peppers onto baking sheet
  18. Drizzle olive oil to coat the peppers
  19. Place peppers into oven and broil until the skins start to darken (8-10mins)
  20. Flip the peppers over for another 8-10mins
  21. Once the peppers are done, take them out of the oven
  22. Add peppers to the food processor (Caution: peppers are still hot)
  23. Blend until they reach a chutney consistency
  24. Pour on top of the hummus
  25. Serve warm or chilled with you favorite dipping utensils and ENJOY!
