Homemade Graham Crackers

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups whole wheat graham flour (We used Hudgson Mill brand from Walmart)
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup milk + 2 tbl.
DIRECTIONS
  1. In a medium mixing bowl, cream butter and brown sugar together; stir in vanilla.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine flours, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; stir into creamed mixture, alternating with milk.
  3. Cover dough and chill until firm (about an hour).
  4. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/8 thickness; cut into rectangles.
  5. Place each cracker 1/2 inch apart on greased baking sheets (or onto a baking stone).
  6. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes until edges are golden.
  7. Remove crackers from baking sheets to cool on wire racks.
