Homemade Marinara Sauce
INGREDIENTS
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
  • 1 can (29 ounces) tomato purée
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp basil
  • 1 tsp parsley flakes
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1/4 tsp salt
DIRECTIONS
  1. Heat the olive oil in a 3-quart saucepan over a medium heat. Add the garlic and onion, cook stirring often until it turns a light golden brown and softened, stirring frequently.
  2. Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato puree, basil, parsley flakes, black pepper, oregano and salt. Bring to a boil, cover and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serves 12.
